Match Report: Miskin u11 v St Fagans u11 Cubs

Match Report:- Miskin u11 v St.Fagans u11 Cubs, Monday 19th June 2017.

The home side decided to bat first on a red hot evening at the delightful Miskin ground.

A tight opening opening over from Rhys P followed by a wicket from Aaron immediately put the Cubs on the front foot.  Seth/Will, Lewis & Tristan continued the accurate bowling which included a wicket from Tristan who celebrated his success with a joyous leap in the air.  Further tight overs from Harry & Owain who both took wickets further restricted Miskin’s progress. Run outs from excellent throws from Tristan and Gabe together with some excellent glove work from Rhys H ensured the Manor were struggling to post a formidable total. Morgan was extremely economical with his 2 overs and the innings was completed with Aled’s looping leg spin. The final Miskin pair put on 16 runs with the final total being 238 for 5 wkts.

Cubs opening pair cousins Seth & Gabe started well and in particular a fine cover drive from Seth which reached the boundary with ease. A brilliant throw at one stump from the Miskin fine leg did peg the pair back though. Lewis & Will continued the good work with Will playing a beautiful cover drive which was racing towards the boundary before hitting the tree which is situated well within the rope. Despite slight confusion from the home umpire a four was eventually signalled much to Will’s delight.

Aaron, Aled & Morgan defended their wickets well against some accurate bowling through the middle of our innings. Harry & Owen came to the wicket with the Cubs well ahead & despite losing a wicket straight away they stemmed the tide to ensure the final pair of Rhys P & Rhys H had a bit of a cushion to see the Cubs home. They didn’t disappoint with the pair running well between the wickets to cement the victory. Total 251 for 7 wickets.

Result:- Cubs won by 13 runs.

Thanks to Paul for scoring the book and a big thanks to all the parents who supported the boys. (The more encouragement from the boundary the better)

Cheers

Mike Hill

Also a big mention to the Stags U11s who recorded a comprehensive 141 run win against Lisvane Minotaurs. The future is bright, the future is maroon!
